Grease stains in canvas bag?

Grease stains in canvas bag?

Postby funnygirl » Tue Sep 01, 2009 11:07 am

Help! My brand new, really swanky canvas bag (white of course) got some grease spots from being in my trunk (I know, what ever was I thinking?)

I was thinking I should use Dawn dish detergent?

Assuming it is washable, I always start with dishwashing soap. I happen to prefer Palmolive, because that's what I use, but I think any would work. I rub it into the stain with a damp sponge, then spray with spot treatment (like the one by Oxi), and launder. Sometimes I have to do it twice, but the stains always come out.

Goop is also great for oily stains. It's a hand cleaner that mechanics use.

do you have the cleaner Greased Lightening where you are? It's a miracle worker.

Nancy - would that be with laundry detergent or regular cleaners?

Not Nancy, but it's with the regular cleaners.

I was hoping you were updating to say the stain came out!

yeah - it is a cleaner. Spray bottle. It's good stuff.

trivia about it - it was originally forumated and made in Pendleton SC by the best friend of my DH. In fact, their first "production" facility was in my DH's barn for years. He swears by it.

There has been so much going on at home in the evenings, I haven't even had a chance to try! Probably tonight though.

The stains came out, despite how long it took. All I used was spray n wash with resolve.

The darn spiffy bag shrunk though (even without the dryer!)
