I know I have talked about many of the cakes that I have thrown together, but here is some shots of them. I love this new forum just because I have somewhat mastered posting pictures.

DH's last birthday, he wanted to go to an island.

Yes, I am self taught with no real lessons of any sorts. I usually ask them what they want on their cake and create from there.

I have done one very similar to your beach cake for (I think?) Gavin. The only difference was that instead of the dolphins, I used peach rings (those gummy candies) and put teddy grahams in them like innertubes, lol.

I only made cakes like that for one birthday. Jenna's was a princess castle using ice cream cones on the cake... Jordan's was 2 round cakes together to look like figure 8. I even had little tic tacs for the white dashes of the road.

It can be fun to make those cakes. Great job teaching yourself.
