Mine are burnt sienna

They're actually the same colour as my hair, I hate to say they're brown because my hair is called "red". So I guess that makes my eyes "red"

Mine are hazel. When I was little I used to say I had 'weasel eyes' instead of hazel eyes  I'd love to have green eyes. I didn't know blue eyes were recessive - the majority of people I know seem to have blue eyes.

As far as the recessive genes, yet more people seem to have them, I've learned a bit in school, that type O blood is recessive to A and B (AB being a combination of A & B genes one from each parent), that actually more than 50% of the population as type O blood. Recessive genes can be more COMMON in certain populations - probably more common in caucasian gene pools, certainly more than other races. Does that make sense?? Edited to add, to clarify - and recessive genes can ONLY pass on their genotype - ie. blue eyed people can only pass on blue eyed genes to their children, however brown eyed/darker eyed pass could pass on either their brown eyed gene, OR, if they carry a lighter eye gene, they could pass that on. So you could see why certain populations would have more of recessive trait, than a dominant one.

Probably a 5 dollar answer to a 2 cent question, lol.

My parents both have brown eyes, all my mom's brothers and sisters have brown eyes. Yet I have one cousin from my mom's brother and I that have blue eyes. We both married blue eyed people. Now both my kids have bue and my cousin has 4 kids and they all have blue. I can see how that recessive gene can be pretty popular I guess.

Yeah the whole recessive thing is fascinating. Despite the fact that I have hazel eyes, Iain's are blue/grey, and hazel is a variant of brown that is supposed to be dominant over blue, yet Helen's eyes are as blue as anything (Cameron is hazel like me). Iain's family are all blue-eyed in various shades, my mum's were hazel and dad's were brown, but I remember my mum's aunt had very blue/green eyes and I think mum's mum might have had blue eyes too.
