Fluff - words no longer used

I was reading something on line, and the word "hotdish" came up in the article. I tried to come up with words my grandparents said that are no longer in fashion.

I haven't come up with any yet.

But I am sure that there are some out there - what is one (or two or twenty) that you recall?

Re: Thanksgiving...

UMMM I love Thanksgiving! Our menu: Turkey Homemade stuffing (like SueK - cheap white bread is the base, with celery & spices) cooked in the turkey Green beans (now days the fried onion casserole, used to be a green bean & mushroom sautee) Mashed potatoes (now garlic mashed) Sweet potatoes w...

Re: Please share your favorite crock pot recipe!

Julie - Your Santa Fe soup is aka WW Taco Soup! Very filling and low in points (well, if you don't add sour cream or cheese - but it tastes so much better with toppings!)

Re: chicken for company

Sue - that recipe looks good, but there has to be a typo. When reading the ingrediants, it states to reserve only 1/4 c oil after browning chicken. I only see it calling for 1/4 c oil - I am I miss reading?

Re: Cleaning Antique Silver

Sue - I have various sets of family silver also that are stored in chests. Haven't gotten them out in a while, but recall they weren't too tarnished. Maybe for Thanksgiving. . .

Re: What's dinner tonight?

Tina - You should at least learn how to start the grill. Very important as I have found out this year! Tonight was supposed to be grilled hamburgers & fries at my moms, but since I am sick, she doesn't want me to come over. Not that I blame her, my dad has a weakened immune system. Perishables a...

Re: Cleaning Antique Silver

I vaguely recall my mom wrapping polished silver in saran wrap to help it not tarnish. Does anyone know if this is effective?

Re: Really Fast and Easy Meals

revisiting this as I need some inspriation for a quick, dinner for the kids tonight.

I made a marinade last night -Rachael Ray's Texas two step pork chops. Not bad, except I am still learning about direct & indirect heat. Usually one side is a bit dark.

Re: How old was your child...

Amy - ITA on the front seat conversations.

My kids were Neya - age 12, Anthony 10 or 11. Anthony is tall & exceeds weight restrictions, that is why he was younger to sit in the front.

Neya still pretty much sits in the back, probably cause she can tune me out!

Bumping up Really Fast and Easy Meals

REading through this gave me some ideas, but now that I am cooking for a crowd (my parents & kids) I could use some ideas. Here are some challenges: one super picky kid one picky adult (he is not big on cheese or pasta - oh and soup & sandwiches are not a meal for dinner) I can only do pasta...

Re: iPhone calendar sync

So far, so good. I just haven't taken the time to figure how to indentify a new entry on the Iphone as family vs. business, but I am sure to get there.

I figure it is pricey, but with cancellation fees for doctors these days, missing 2 appointments pays for a year!

ARGH I did it again. I totally have to figure out what my syncing issues are. I loaded about 10 more cd's into my library, and those didn't transfer over either.
