Re: Gifts for your couples friends?

Sorry, I've never bought gifts for couple friends! In fact I don't think I could honestly say we have any that we are that close to. Gift buying is strictly family only, we buy for each other, for Sean's step Mom, and my parents. No siblings, no nieces, no nephews. It'd be way too much. (Sean has 6 ...

Re: Have your holiday traditions changed?

yes and no... We haven't lived around any family in over 11 years, so it's always been just "us" on the holidays. Then, add in becoming a nurse 5 years ago, and working half the holidays, yes, definitely changed. So far I have lucked out and not had to work Christmas Eve, and our church En...

Re: Spinoff.... older kids and hairstyles/color

and as far as shampoo, the boys' stylist told Danny he needed to use Prell. Combination of that pre-teen (at the time) and not washing so thoroughly, plus thick hair. She said it is the best at cleaning the scalp and getting rid of scalp buildup and grease. You can't find it all the stores, I know o...

Re: Spinoff.... older kids and hairstyles/color

We've let the boys do what they want with their hair. A few years ago when Matt was a freshman/soph he had pretty longish hair, the style was the big moppy do that all the boys were wearing. In general the older two wear their hair layered in a longer style with scissors (when I say longer it is sti...

Re: Your tweens/teens and cleanliness

It's funny how kids seem to go from never wanting to take a bath or shower.... to the teen years when they take showers all the time. Morning, night..... etc. I remember in the last year or two having to tell Danny to wash his hair etc. But now he's a freshman in hs, I don't have to do any reminding...

Re: Shoes in the house question

When I am home, the shoes are off and the slippers are on!

Dh grew up with a Japanese mother and yes they do not wear shoes inside the house.

Christina, I wonder if the Canadian thing also comes from all the snow and mud, etc? you don't want that tracked into your houses!

Re: Shoes in the house question

I'm not sure Christina! Does that mean you do or don't? I usually take mine off. But I would never presume to tell guests to take off their shoes. Some people do, some people don't. Now, mind you if we're having a big backyard barbecue, we certainly don't, as people are going in/out onto the deck in...

Re: Your favorite thing about having a teenager

Mine is that now we can have intelligent conversations about everything from the political race to how to decorate for the holidays and they have funny and insightful input. they are no longer just sponges and while that can mean some conflict I love that they are their own people. Yup, I totally a...

Re: Pajama question

If I wear PJs (as opposed to just yoga pants and long sleeved shirts in the winter) I just usually wash them again. I don't typically wear the same thing to bed more than once without washing. The boys just wear underwear or pajama pants.

Re: How often do you change your sheets?

April two of my 3 boys have those high loft beds (Matt is one, Danny the other). Believe me I would have stripped and washed Matt's sheets myself... oh yeah, I DID, after he left for the semester... :? but they are a pitb to get off. Ryan has an elevated bed with shelves and stuff underneath but it'...

Re: How often do you change your sheets?

the boys every 2 weeks. Our bed, once a week generally. Not on a strict schedule b/c it depends on my work schedule, but almost always on a day I have off. Ironically I'm doing a load right now! Now, my oldest son, now that he's had a year away from home, he definitely does NOT change his sheets reg...

Re: I need ideas for a college care package

Matt appreciated gift cards the most, esp to a variety of fast food restaurants.

Now, being as this is a girl, you could throw in some fun little beauty stuff, like lotions or body washes, etc, or what have you. Have fun!

Re: Suggestions for Dakota?

((((hugs)))) It is hard to see our beloved pets getting old. That being said, I'd have a hard time dealing with an incontinent pet and I tend to agree with your husband. Perhaps it's time to let go.

My boys are REALLY bad about just taking a new towel out of the drawer we have set aside for kitchen towels. Never mind the 3 hanging off t...
