Re: Hair color question

I would absolutely say something. I've never had that happen and it obviously wasn't rinsed right.

Re: Would you take a 12 y.o. to Paris?

In a heartbeat! I would love to take the boys... we are hoping that Keefe will be on his first international trip with the boys choir in another year which would be fantastic for him.

Re: Sam's Club or Costco?

Sam's is not convenient... Costco is 2 miles from the house... Sam's not even close. I think you must live *very* clost to my AZ friend. She's not too far from Costco...Pepper Tree Lane. Hmmm I don't know where that is other than Glendale which is about 45 minutes away the other side of the city. B...

Re: Sam's Club or Costco?

We have Costco and I use it a lot - especially for photos for the choir. Their frozen prep food isn't horrible and we love their roaster chickens.

Re: You know you're old when . . .

When you are talking with your co-workers about iconic movie lines from your HS and college years and half the room has NO idea what you are talking about.

Re: Techie question - working with videos

Probably late here but you can pull video from youtube using several different methods. Once there you can edit with an inexpensive program called Roxio 2012 or Windows Live Movie. I'd bet Mac comes with one if you are an apple user but I know less about that. Windows Live is easy, just "Add Vi...

Re: rules on eating and drinking around house

We have rules about nothing but water on any non-tile floor. Which pretty much limits the food and juice to the dining room (now office), kitchen areas, and entry hall... but we are kind of lax about the family room that is basically an extension of the dining room even though it has carpet.

Re: Dumping cable/using Roku

We don't have Roku but we do have Wii with a Netflix and Hulu+ subscriptions. I don't miss cable at all. We took the old Wii that won't read the Wii game disks anymore and put it on the old (pre HDTV) TV in our bedroom and get great reception. The main TV has the "new" Wii and also links t...

Re: Kids in College - computer, laptop, ipad ?

The goverment has been very slow to adapt to technology and we still have to fill out some shipping forms on the actual pressure sensitive triplicate forms using a typewriter LOL Just curious, does anyone remember IBM MAGcards? It was a cross between a typewriter and a word processor. Oh yeah... th...

Re: What do they "level" at your middle school?

Everything... well except for "integrated studies" which is essentially leveled because all the other classes are leveled.

That includes all the fine arts (music etc) which are audition entry.

Re: High school honors courses?

So AP vs IB vs Honors. Our kids have honors classes at their school until junior year at that point IF they have gotten B or better in the honors classes for certain honors classes they can opt to take AP tests but they are NOT AP prep classes (teach to the test). We don't have IB at the boys school...

Re: High school honors courses?

Cathie, The term "honors" depends on where you are, your school, and the specific teacher. I was in honors classes all the way through HS. I had honors classes that really challenged me to think above and beyond the regular curriculum but I also had honors classes that were the same stuff ...

Re: Kids in College - computer, laptop, ipad ?

Sandy, where is Sarah going to college? Lora, I laughed at your comment (in a good way) b/c my graduation gift from HS in 1983 was an electric typewriter. My kids can't even imagine a typewriter nowadays. Think about the last time when you saw IRL! We have one at work that sits in the corner... it ...

Re: Printer/Scanner Suggestions

We have the C6180 as well and I have to se I don't love it. We use it wireless and it may be because we were using an HP laptop with it more than the printer/scanner itself. It still works and seems to work better with the Dell PCs than it did with the HP laptop... we shall see... My parents ...

Re: Spinoff Deux: Smartphone=how old?

My kids don't have smart phones and only Cam has a "stupid" phone. Voice / Text only. He is $10 a month on our family plan. I have 2 smart phones - a BB for work that I can't get rid of but would love to and a Droid for home. For me, juggling 4 schedules and where in the world kids are sup...

Re: Blackberry vs. iPhone (possibly vs. Droid)?

Looks like you decided on the iPhone... I went droid... but I also liked the conventional keyboard at first so I have an LG DoublePlay. It has both touch screen and slide out keyboard. And now that I'm used to Swipe I virtually never use the keyboard although it is usefull to have the two screens :D
