Re: Pajama question

Dirty clothes. Dh just wears boxers, so his is obvious :) The older girls throw theirs in the dirty clothes too. Ilana wears her clothes from the day most of the time, even jeans  I have no clue why she started or how to stop it. She will out grow it. I did that as a teen. No idea why, it jus...

Re: Your tweens/teens and cleanliness

With our boys we made it a mandate that at 13 showers became a daily thing. No excuses. With Cam it wasn't a huge deal except that on the rare occasion he doesn't shower his acne really breaks out fast. With Tev... let's just say he has the "boy smell" and it's not pleasant to be around hi...

Your favorite thing about having a teenager

Since we are all - or virtually all - well past the baby stage and onto the teenager thing. What is your favorite thing about having teens? Mine is that now we can have intelligent conversations about everything from the political race to how to decorate for the holidays and they have funny and insi...

Re: Changing Up Thanksgiving -- Ideas?

Lots of good advice and recipes.
I've seen lots of variations on the holiday but one of my favorites is polenta as a side (either a sweet version or a savory).

Re: How you know your kid is an adult

Ackk... yup it's been 15 years for me and it is a bit of a freak moment to realize that Betsy's Stephen, who I remember as this cute 6 year old, will be old enough to go to a strip club...

Re: Drum Set question: Erin, Anna or anyone?

No info on drum sets... but on the question of how you know they will stick to it??? Watch him when he starts. If he has that gleam in his eyes and will do it in favor of other things... it is his passion and he will stick to it. If not... it's likely to be a passing fad. That said. I would rent fir...

Re: Spin off - homework in middle school?

Cam had very little HW in MS because he was very efficient at finishing it in school or after school in the 40 minutes they wait for their brother (library is open with help available). If she has this much in MS I'd hate to see her load in HS because Cam is pretty overwelmed with HW every night on ...

Re: Your community pool

We have a community pool. It has both a good distance swimming area as well as a shallow play area that is big with lots of things like a lazy river and water slide. Cheap too. But to be honest we haven't been there in about 5 years because our boys out grew the play area and we have a pool for them...

Re: Sleepovers-sleeping bags, bedtime, ...?

sleepovers with us didn't get to be a big thing until a few years ago. Except when there is school the next day (and yes we've had a few of those due to choir schedules) I don't set a bed time. I do tell them that if they wake me up they will be sorry. Usually they are down and out by 1ish but I don...

Re: School lunches

Wow... I wish we could get purchased lunch for that little. The boys have the option of getting school lunch quarterly. Must be paid in advance and it is the same thing every week. They try to go for the healthier options but they are basically upscale fast food. We let them choose one of those lunc...

Re: Anything you have in excess?

bobble heading at VCR tapes - what do you do with them? I have excess everything! I have combined three households, and have the boxes of junk to prove it. Someday, I will get through them all. Convert them to digital and put them on DVD... I've been doing that with ours lately and it's nice to see...

Board games - all kinds. Candles - I'm trying to give up my PartyLite habit and haven't bought any in ...
