Re: Fluff -- what you hate

oh my Lord - ketchup! Me too! I think it's gross, I hate the stickiness and gunk left on the bottle. My kids think I'm so weird that I don't like ketchup. Everytime we eat something that they think requires ketchup (ie. fries, chicken strips, hamburgers, hot dogs) - they try cajoling me into trying ...

Re: Fluff -- what you hate

I don't like coffee either. Drank it a few times in college but never acquired the taste. Even tried one of those fancy mcdonald caramel coffees a few years ago, blech! However I do enjoy hot tea, especially vanilla/caramel flavored black teas. I don't like rollercoasters. Or clowns. Or circuses or ...

Re: Hobbies

Ditto Erin. Does studying count? I started back to school in September to earn my RN to BSN degree online. So I don't have time for any hobbies, unless studying counts. I still play the flute every other weekend at church (darn that full time work schedule).

Re: Roll Call?

Mel, go Mountaineers!! LOL Matt is graduating this fall from WVU. I'm sure it will be weird for him to NOT be in marching band for the first time in 8 years. He can't do it with his student teaching schedule.

Re: Roll Call?

I check in but not regularly. It is hard to believe my youngest will be a senior very soon, he just turned 17 this week. My oldest son Matt will graduate WVU next fall after student teaching next fall. He is living year round in Morgantown, WV and he has a summer job at Jimmy John's (sandwiches). My...

Re: Holiday gift ideas

kids, mostly clothes and one game a piece or so. Matt requested a bow tie and suspenders and a chromecast media streaming stick. Me, I requested perfume and clothes which I picked out myself. And some simple jewelry from Kohl's. I got a nice present for no reason at all 2 mos ago - a KitchenAid stan...

Re: Families and Careers

Just drove by Waynesburg last week on our way to/from Morgantown from Pittsburgh! I think it is a combination of both, I definitely think there is a genetic predilection component. My Mom studied music and taught music for her whole career and also taught piano. Out of the 5 of us children, only my ...

Re: Favorite PnM memories?

I do believe I was the original poster on the thread killer. I remember posting about it because it seemed whenever I posted on a topic, the conversation died and I was the last poster. I was beginning to get a complex!

Re: Favorite PnM memories?

Cathie, do you mean Cheri, not Cheryl? I remember the capers thread. That was hilarious. And I remember the trivia games, I was the "host". That got pretty competitive! And of course, the trolls we had and strange posters, such as Ladybug, the one that claimed she had all the kids? And Alex?

Re: Paying someone to pick up and drop off your kids

Would you feel safe having a teen drive your kids to/from school? I don't know how California is, but at least in PA and I think in TX, there is a limit to the # of underage (under 18) passengers a junior license (ie under 18) can have in the car.

Re: Driving

I'm no good at teaching teens to drive. I am a big nervous ball of anxiety. My older two did not like it either when they drove with me, saying I overreact or panic. LOL. We had them both do the defensive driving hours with driving schools in PA. The one we used they even had their same instructor p...

That is good news Julie! BTW after I posted on this thread, Ryan texted me and said he got contacted by Kroger's... So hopefully he can get an interview set up when he's home over Easter break for a summer job...

Re: Graduation parties

we did more low-key celebration with just extended family. And with even that, Ryan would have been fine with less, lol. Now, my youngest son, I can see him totally wanting a drop in type of thing. We'll see!

Re: Losing weight as you are older.

just a thought, have you had your thyroid checked? if it is off even a little (high or low) it can affect your weight. I've been hypothyroid for years and over the summer/fall, my thyroid levels really fluctuated, and I became hyperthyroid due to my body's need for less thyroid medication, and I act...

Re: teen jobs/teen spending money

We're probably a bit different than the norm, in that we really did not want our boys working while they were in school. (and honestly, there is no way my 10th grader could work given his current band and french academics schedule... he literally has something, sometimes 2 things, after school EVERY...

Re: SAHM, WOHM, WAHM?

For the first time in 20 years, I am working full time. It's been a bit of an adjustment, but do-able and I really enjoy my new nursing job & hospital. I work three 12 hours shifts per week, every other weekend. And it's a set rotating schedule. I just worked back to back shifts Wed &Thurs a...
